The Nakakeeto Foundation proudly participated in the National Safe Motherhood Conference, a three-day event that brought together health professionals, policymakers, and innovators to discuss strategies for improving maternal and newborn care in Uganda.
Representing the Foundation, Waligo Henry, Programs Manager for NoviGuide Implementation in Uganda, delivered an impactful presentation highlighting how digital innovation is transforming newborn care at the frontline.

NoviGuide, a point-of-care clinical decision support tool, helps nurses and midwives deliver evidence-based care for sick and small babies. Through this tool, healthcare workers can easily access national newborn care guidelines and apply them at the bedside, improving quality, consistency, and outcomes for newborns.
During his presentation, Henry shared real-world results from facilities using NoviGuide, showing how technology and mentorship can strengthen health systems and empower providers. His session drew attention from health leaders and development partners eager to explore digital health innovations for maternal and neonatal survival.
The conference, organized under the theme “Strengthening Leadership, Governance, and Innovation for Safe Motherhood,” emphasized the role of technology, data, and collaboration in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality.
The Nakakeeto Foundation remains committed to advancing safe motherhood and newborn survival through mentorship, data-driven quality improvement, and the integration of digital tools such as NoviGuide.

“Digital health is not replacing healthcare workers, it’s empowering them to deliver the best care possible,” said Henry during his presentation.
